The Adeunis Temp 2S measures temperature where it matters – at two points at once, via two cabled probes, and reports the values over LoRaWAN. It is exactly those two measuring points that make it strong: only the comparison of flow and return, of collector and store, of supply and extract air says anything about a system. The probes take up to 105 degrees, the housing is watertight to IP68 and can be mounted on the DIN rail in a cabinet, on a pipe or on the wall. A data logger in the device bridges coverage gaps, and at power-up it checks for itself whether the network is there – saving the second site visit. The sensor is built in France.
- 2 probestwo measuring points at once
- −30 … +105 °Cprobe measuring range
- 2 mprobe cable
- IP68watertight housing
- over 10 yearsbattery life
What sets the Temp 2S apart
- Two measuring points instead of one: the actual benefit lies in the difference. Flow against return shows how much heat a circuit actually gives up; collector against store shows whether a solar system is delivering. With a single probe you get a number, with two you get a statement.
- Probes for hard service: up to 105 degrees – that covers heating flow, hot water and the solar circuit, where ordinary room sensors are long past their limit. The two metres of cable reach from the mounting position to the measuring point.
- Data logger against coverage gaps: if the connection drops, the device stores the values and delivers them afterwards. For analyses that depend on unbroken series – evidence, consumption billing, fault analysis – that is the difference between usable and useless data.
- Network test at power-up: the device reports at commissioning whether it reaches the network. Anyone who has mounted a sensor in a plant room and only noticed back at their desk that nothing was arriving knows what that function is worth.
- Fits the cabinet and the pipe: DIN rail, pipe clamp, wall mounting or flange – the bracket is designed in, not improvised.
- Replaceable battery: no return shipping, no special tools; the electronics stay, the cell is swapped.
- Certified and network independent: LoRa Alliance Certified, works on any LoRaWAN network in the European band.
Where it is used
- Heating systems: flow and return on one device – the spread shows immediately whether a circuit is hydraulically balanced or heating into nothing.
- Solar thermal: collector and store temperature side by side. Is the system delivering, or is the pump running for nothing?
- District heating and substations: temperature monitoring at points where a cable to the control system would be too much work.
- Cooling and food: cold rooms and refrigerated cabinets with an alarm when limits are exceeded – the unbroken record supplies the evidence as well.
- Process and plant engineering: supply and extract air temperature, machine cooling, drying processes.
- Existing buildings: retrofitting without pulling cable, especially in buildings where no more conduits can be laid.
- Larger rollouts: because mounting and commissioning need no wiring and no on-site configuration, the sensor scales from one boiler room to an entire property portfolio.
That settles the selection. What follows is the depth for planning and installation.
Why two probes are more than twice as much
A single temperature reading is hard to interpret. Does “return 42 degrees” say anything about the state of the system? Only if you know the flow. Only the spread between two points turns the measurement into a diagnosis: too small a difference in a heating circuit means too much water is circulating too fast and the heat is not being given up – a classic case for hydraulic balancing. In solar thermal, the difference between collector and store shows whether running the pump is worthwhile at all. Because both values come from the same device at the same moment, they are directly comparable – with two separate sensors transmitting at different times you would first have to interpolate laboriously.
Probe and device do not tolerate the same thing
One point regularly overlooked during installation: the probes are rated to 105 degrees, but the housing with the electronics only to 70 degrees – and downwards to −25 degrees, while the probes measure to −30 degrees. In a hot boiler room or directly on an insulated pipe that means: the probe may go on the pipe, the device belongs somewhere at room temperature. The two metres of cable exist exactly for that. Mounting the device next to a hot pipe risks not only measurement errors but also shortens battery life considerably – heat is the greatest enemy of any lithium cell.
Thresholds and reporting behaviour
The sensor can report immediately when defined limits are crossed instead of waiting for the next regular interval. For cold room monitoring that is the decisive point: a fault at two in the morning has to be reported at two in the morning, not at six. Conversely the regular interval can then be set long, which saves battery – it still measures closely, it just does not transmit every time. This combination of a frugal base rate and an immediate exception report is why such devices last for years.
